Bert Dog

November 19, 2016 by

Albert, aka Bertos, Fat Albert, Bertolini, and The Bert Dog, came into our lives in October of 1995 as a puppy not even weaned. He was brought home after a hunting trip and was a gift’ from our niece. We hadn’t been in the market for a dog, but Bertos was a chubby little teddy bear dog, that was irresistible and soon became a member of our family.  He was the runt of the litter, born of a Border Collie mother, and big red Chow, hence we called him a Chollie. He was hand fed, and soon became the center of our lives and everyone’s attention for almost 16 years.
A wonderful companion, awesome Frisbee player, and peanut eating’ buddy, always wanting to just be’ with you. The dog that wasn’t (really a dog) had an undeniable personality and thought that everyone who came to the door was there to play with him. Once the boys left home for college, neighbor kids would come over and ask to play Frisbee with Albert.
He loved opening presents at Christmas, hunting Easter Eggs, and greeting kids at the door for Halloween. He knew the words play, outside, Frisbee, walk, go, treat, get baby’, and of course, sit, stand, beg; he could count’, speak, and rollover and shake. He would carry his baby’ around the block when he went for walks. He loved playing frisbee, keep away, chase, and catch.
With his puppy dog paws our handsome, beloved Bertos went where all dogs go’, doggie heaven on Monday, August 15th. Mom, Dad, Justin and Lucas will sadly miss him; he will never be forgotten as all the happy memories of The Bert Dog will forever be with all of us.
